Monsanto Evil in Nepal!

This is the time people, especially farmers, should fight for their rights and originality. The big corporate organization like the "Chaudhary Group" and the citizens's umbrella, the "Nepal Government" have joined in their hands to fight with us, the Citizens! And the poor farmers too.

The corporate organizations are getting greedier and too much money hungry, but for what? I think they have forgotten one thing, that they too have to live in this same world.

Monsanto is right now exporting hybrid seeds, but soon, it will make our country a laboratory to test it's Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) products, which includes both plants and animals.

The proponents of GMO products cite "hunger" and the years of Genetic modification that is taking place naturally since millions of years as the basis to support their cause.

Their question, "How would you feed world population without GMO products?" "How would you treat so many people with newer and ever evolving diseases such as cancer?" is my question back to them. In the name of feeding hungry people you can't just feed them anything!

Second reason is that the Genetic Modifications has been taking place naturally since our evolution. So, what's wrong with this artificial technology? Yes, there are many things wrong. Our genetic modification has taken place slowly and gradually, in order to adapt with the changes in the environment and lifestyle. However, the modification through genetic engineering (GE) is an all of a sudden change which is unhealthy in its very nature.

Moreover, GMO products have no reproducing capacity which is bad for us forever because we will always have to be dependent upon the Monsanto beast to get the seeds. It will cost a lot to our economy.

Most importantly we have an alternative:

We can focus on organic farming. We can use technologies such as the Green house to increase the production. We can make natural hybrids to increase production.

Furthermore, Nepal can be developed into a highly touristic country. We don't have to focus too much on industrialization. We can develop hospitality industry and hotel industry and attract tourists in more ways than any other nations can and boost up our economy. We don't have to rely on some random Monsanto giant.

The big corporations can be dangerously evil especially when they take a wrong step. The Chaudhary Group involving in this case, has silenced many politicians and media. They literally have the power to buy all the politicians and the medias in a small economy like ours. This makes us realize the importance of smaller and medium scale enterprises.

Again, our farmers should be conscious about this. The internet research will yield controversial result in this. However, we can do one thing. Take a safer side. The causes like hunger cannot be used to justify the evil deeds of giant corporations. Are they going to feed the famine victims out of their profits? Definitely not! So, they don't have the right to cite this cause in their advertisement campaigns.

The corporations don't intend to end world's hunger. They just want to quench their hunger for money! So, a huge "NO" to Monsanto right now!
